While casually scrolling my Facebook as one does, I came across an article about this web series being a great show to watch during the Halloween season. So me, always looking for blog post ideas, decided to investigate what this show was all about and give it a watch.
Poe Party, created by Shipwrecked., is about a murder mystery dinner party that Poe hosts in order to impress Annabel Lee. Guests include Ernest Hemingway, Oscar Wilde, Charlotte Bronte, George Eliot, and other well-known literary figures of the time. When the murder becomes real and the guests become victims, the party must solve the mystery.
You wouldn’t think a series about murder and Edgar Allan Poe would be a comedy, would you? Well, you can bet your beating heart under the floorboard that this show is definitely full of comedic wonder. Let’s start with the full show name: Edgar Allan Poe’s Murder Mystery Invite Only Casual Dinner Party/ Gala for Friend’s Potluck (Poe Party for short). And with every character being well-known authors, you can expect them to be the exaggerated version of those authors. Oscar Wilde was one of my favorites in the show for his comedic timing. I watched the whole series in one day because it was easily binged watched. Episodes are only 7-15 minutes long, so it is an amusing and quick watch. I definitely had a good laugh at the show, and the bloopers I watched after as well. I would call this a well-read comedy. And as for the mystery, I was certainly surprised in the end which is what you want in a mystery.
If you’re not a horror movie watcher, you can get your spooky on with a good laugh from this series. You can watch it all now on YouTube.
I attended a Murder Mystery show when I was in the states last time and it was a lot of fun, so I have a soft spot for this sort of thing. This show sounds really fun, thanks for sharing!
