Tis the season of being thankful and showing our thanks, so as a part of the Geek Blogs Unite theme week Feeling Thankful, I’m going to share the geeky things I am thankful for.
Harry Potter
Harry Potter opened up the world of reading for fun for me. As a kid I was completely enthralled by the series and I have a deep respect for the series as an adult. So I am thankful for every bit of Harry Potter, which also leads me to…
YA Fiction
Reading for me is an escape. I read in bursts, particularly when I am down, and I seem to always drift to YA fiction. I’ve fallen in love with so many stories in this genre, and find peace and comfort in them. So many instances of recovering emotionally and mentally through books that I can be nothing but thankful for them.
Gaming
If you have been on this site more than once, you see that I write a lot about gaming. I’ve been playing board games my entire life since I could hold cards in my hand so I’m very close to that. And video games are a more recent passion that has been very therapeutic for me. So games are both a very personal and shared enjoyment that I am thankful for.
What are you thankful for? Let me know in the comments below.
Gaming and reading books (like Harry Potter)…wait, I don’t remember writing this post 😉 What I love about these 2 activities in particular is there dichotomy. Reading, at least for me, is a very quiet and alone time, whereas gaming is meant to be shared with friends.
I’m thankful for all three of these! Okay, maybe not the board games (I really dislike playing them for some reason), but video games have given me so much joy. I would never have met my boyfriend if not through gaming! YA books are a recent discovery and I should them more. Like you, reading can be such a therapeutic experience.
OK, off to play some video games! 🙂
Harry Potter is a great fandom to be thankful for!
I’m the only person I know who has never watched or read Harry Potter before and I can’t get into YA films at all, lol.
Otherwise, I do love geeking out about Disney, other films, and I do play some computer games such as the Civilization series, the Age of Empires series, and the Nancy Drew game series.
Harry Potter is one of my favorites (as an adult and a child!). I have so many fun memories and have made so many friends through this fandom!
