It has been a little while since I have tried out some mobile games, and over the holidays I decided to go through Google Play and go game hunting. One of the games I decided to get and try is Lara Croft Go, which is a puzzle game based on the Tomb Raider series. Here are my first thoughts on this game.
Lara Croft Go is a turn-based puzzle adventure game where you explore the ruins of an ancient civilization. You have to complete puzzles and survive the various threats amongst the ruins and collect gems and relics. There is certainly a hint of a story progression, but as a first look, I am not the clearest as to what the full story entails.
The puzzles all have a variety of elements to test your skills and strategy. From snakes to spider to levers that change pathways to saws, there is a great deal of variety in every puzzle. And there is a good amount of difficulty levels with every puzzle.
Every puzzle has opportunities to get collectibles of gems and pieces of an artifact. Completing artifacts unlock different skins for Lara to wear. It’s nice that that is a thing that is earned through playing and not through paying. I personally didn’t put a lot of attention into this because I was really playing for the puzzles.
And who knew a puzzle game would have a boss battle? You learn very early into playing this game that there is an enemy looming, which just so happens to be a giant snake. I find it fascinating that a mobile puzzle game has created a boss battle moment.
My one complaint so far is that if you get stuck on a puzzle, you have to pay extra for tips and hints and solutions. Or you can search YouTube for some playthroughs like I did when I got super stuck. And right now I am stuck on part of the boss battle and will probably have to look up a playthrough to get past this point. I wish the game had a simple hint option that doesn’t fully explain the puzzle but can break past some of the more difficult puzzles. And this is why this is a first look and not a full review; because I can’t get past the large snake.
Overall I do enjoy this game a lot and have played it a bunch. If you enjoy puzzle games I definitely recommend this game. It’s available on both iOS and Android and also can be found on Steam.
Have you tried out any new to you mobile games lately? Share them with me with a comment!

I might just have to check this out. I love puzzle games, love the artwork, and am constantly looking for new mobile games (they tend to bore me pretty fast lol). Thanks for the share!
I used to love the Tomb Raider series back in the days when i had time to obsess over video games. It makes me happy that the developers are expanding the platform range of the series with this release. Ill give this gem a look myself!
I actually really like the look of this game and think it might be something I’d enjoy, so thank you for sharing your thoughts. I like the idea of the puzzles.

I’m not sure if this would be my thing. I don’t know how much I would like a Lara Croft mobile game, that sounds odd to me.
