Megan at A Geeky Gal is currently hosting the 30 Day Geek Out Challenge and I decided to give it a go myself this month as well! This particular challenge is all about what makes you geeky, from fandoms to hobbies, favorite characters and more. I’m going to do this challenge along with my regular schedule of posts, so there will be tons of content from me this month!
For the first day of this challenge, the question is: What was your first fandom?
My first fandom is Harry Potter, hands down. As a kid, I was reading the books as they were being released and watching the movies in theatres. I collected the Harry Potter trading cards they made and still have the giant binder of them somewhere. My brother and I would play pretend that we were at Hogwarts and attending classes. We’d practice our magic spells in the backyard, maybe even some dueling. I played the PC games when they came out.
Now, as an adult, I still find my way back to Harry Potter and my love for the whole world around it. I made a website about Fantastic Beasts (click here to see it) for one of my master’s classes. I started this blog on Harry Potter’s birthday. And I still write about the wizarding world when I get the chance. I still buy Harry Potter merch to rep my love of the story and the world around it. I am a diehard Ravenclaw. And I approach the fandom and the story and world differently now, but still cherished all the same. Harry Potter means a lot to many people of course and that is wonderful.
