Today’s 30 Day Geek Out Challenge question made me really geek out! I’m sharing a geeky hobby I don’t talk about often.
Just as a reminder, the 30 Day Geek Out Challenge is all about what makes you geeky, from fandoms to hobbies, favorite characters and more. I’m going to do this challenge along with my regular schedule of posts, so there will be tons of content from me this month! Thanks to Megan at A Geeky Gal for creating this!
Today’s question is: What geeky hobby do you have?
You mean besides blogging?! My number one geeky hobby is this blog. But for the sake of diversifying this content, I will share my next closest geeky hobby which is theatre photography.
My brother owns a mystery theatre production company called Master Mystery Productions that puts on interactive mystery shows for events, fundraisers, and parties. And I have been the photographer for almost all of them, both for cast and promotional photos and what I best describe as “action shots” which is photos from the actual show.

I’ve always really enjoyed doing photography in general, and almost went to college for it. And it is my main way to help my brother out with his work which is always incredible. Especially because every show has an even crazier photo idea than the last. So there is always a creative challenge, whether the only light source is a lit match or the actress has cake smashed all over her face.

From 1940’s Hollywood to the wild west to the fashion industry to a pirate crew to the French revolution to a life-size version of Clue, MMP has done a show on it and I have photographed it. It’s been a great way to improve my skills in photography in a fun and unique way.

I actually geeked out really hard about doing this post, cause I rarely get to talk and share my photography. And some of my best work ever has been with MMP. And I’m just a very proud sister too.
Check out A Geeky Gal’s geeky hobbies in her Day 8 post. And check out MMP!

So cool that your brother owns his own murder mystery theatre! Your photos look great! 🙂
Yay! Thanks for the shout-out! And we love your work so much. You make magic, Michelle.
Wow! These are beautiful, Michelle!
