The Geeky Childhood Tag

Everyone gets nostalgic every now and again, including me. So my nostalgia decided to make yet another new tag that I’m calling the Geeky Childhood Tag.

Where did your geek come from? Parents? Siblings? Destiny?

My brother is definitely the top source of my geekiness in many ways. I read Harry Potter because he was reading it, we watched the same shows growing up together, and in general, spent a lot of time together. My parents would be number 2 on the list, mainly cause my board gaming started with family and them in particular.

The First Geeky Thing You Got Into

My first fandom was Harry Potter, and I wrote about that for the 30 Day Geek Out Challenge so go read that for details.

Favorite TV Show as a Kid

There was a lot, to be honest. Clarissa Explains It All, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Daria, Kim Possible, Lizzie McGuire, Hey Arnold, the list goes on and on. I was in the sweet spot of children’s TV for the ’90s and early 2000s.

Favorite Movie as a Kid

I’ve never been a big movie aficionado so I honestly don’t really know for this. Mulan is my closest guess since it is my all-time favorite Disney movie.

Favorite Video Game as a Kid

I used to think that I was not a gamer as a kid and never really played games, which isn’t completely inaccurate. But I did have the games I enjoyed, like the Harry Potter PC games, Where In Time is Carmen Sandiego game, and ClueFinders. I wrote a post about video games from my childhood actually.

Favorite Book as a Kid

Again, so many! Magic Treehouse series was a favorite for sure. Harry Potter of course, especially Goblet of Fire. My Father’s Dragon is a book my mom would read to my brother and me when I was really little that is full of nostalgia for me.

Favorite Memory as a Kid

I can never pick one with any questions involving memories because it is so hard to choose. My first trips to Disneyland, playing pretend Hogwarts with my brother in our backyard, seeing Disney on Ice, and so many more.

A Character You Looked Up To as a Kid

Mulan is a big one for sure. She was the first one of my recollection that was more than just a princess and damsel in distress.

A Character That Scared You as a Kid

Aragog in the Chamber of Secrets movie scared me so much. All those spiders did, I covered my eyes in the movie theatre. Giant spiders are a big no thank you. I still find him creepy and unsettling.
