For those that don’t know:
The Enneagram is a system of personality typing that describes patterns in how people conceptualize the world and manage their emotions. The Enneagram model describes nine different personality types and maps each of these types on a nine-pointed diagram which helps to illustrate how the types relate to one another.
If you want to learn what your Enneagram type is, you can take the test for free via Truity. And all of my information came from them as well. So let’s get started!
1. The Perfectionist
Perfectionists are responsible and serious-minded pragmatists. They seek to improve the welfare of people and make things better for the greater good. To do this, they use their best judgment to find solutions that can be applied in the real world.
Resource Management games are great for the perfectionists because of their desire to improve welfare of people and their pragmatic nature. Examples of great resource management games for perfectionists are Dead in Vinland and Frostpunk.
2. The Giver
Givers are highly empathetic and caring individuals who put others’ needs above their own. They have intuitive abilities to anticipate the emotional gaps of others and support them. They find great joy in being available and are seen as a source of encouragement or a shoulder to cry on.
Co-op games are perfect for givers because of their desire to help people and work them. Great co-op games include Overcooked and Castle Crashers.
3. The Achiever
Polished and sophisticated, Achievers have a particular taste for the nice things in life. They have the capacity for huge chunks of productivity to reach their goals and high standards. Their goal is to be remembered and appreciated for their discoveries and creations—to be the best.
Choices Matter/Turn-Based Strategy are good genres for achievers because of their desire to be the best and make the best decisions for their high standards. XCOM 2 is an excellent turn-based strategy game and Disco Elysium is a good choices matter option.
4. The Individualist
Individualists may stand out to others from their unique choice of fashion, unconventional lifestyle and interests or creative works. Offbeat yet endearing, Individualists have a relentless drive to discover and understand who they truly are, deep down. Creation—not consumption—is the key to their wellbeing.
Sims/Tycoons are perfect for individualists since they are creators and want to make things their own way. Megaquarium and Planet Coaster are just two great options for them.
5. The Investigator
Investigators are the pioneers of independent and critical thinking. They’re inquisitive and curious about the connections between underlying themes and the mysteries of the universe. Usually introverted and analytical, Investigators gather and process information to build with and synthesize patterns and ideas.
Puzzle games are excellent for investigators with their inquisitive nature and their ability to build patterns out of their experience. The Sexy Brutale and Baba is You are two great choices.
6. The Loyalist
Security, commitment and a sense of connectedness with the group are what drive a Loyalist’s actions. They stand strong by the people in their lives who have earned a spot in their hearts. Seeking safety, Loyalists value those who can reassure them of their importance and connection.
Survival games sound counter-intuitive, but they work for loyalists need to seek safety and find connections. Don’t Starve and Astroneer are both good options for survival that doesn’t go too horror focused.
7. The Enthusiast
Wide-eyed and filled to the brim with endless energy, Enthusiasts are the playful and busy optimists of the world. Their relentless curiosity for new information and experiences play into their (often impressive) stories and gift for gab. At the end of a workday, their minds are often still buzzing with new ideas to explore.
Open World games are perfect for curious and energetic enthusiasts. Their playful nature and desire for experiences will keep them playing these games and loving every second. Forager and My Time at Portia are some indie open worlds you should check out if you are an enthusiast.
8. The Challenger
Goal-oriented and self-competent, challengers trail blaze boldly through all walks of life and take great pride in their independence and sharp minds. They hold their heads up high and will pick themselves right back up after each stumble—stronger than before.
Action is perfect for the challengers. Their goal-oriented nature and ability to get right back up and back in the fight are great for this genre. Overwatch is a great example of a game they’d enjoy. Hades and Dead Cells are some good indie options too.
9. The Peacemaker
Gentle and agreeable, Peacemakers are the skilled mediators and counselors in a group of friends or coworkers. They work hard behind the scenes in order to keep the group harmony steady and flowing.
MOBAs are a good choice for peacemakers because of their desire to work with a team and willingness to work behind the scenes. The healer class would be a good choice for them. Dota 2 and Smite are two of the most popular options, and Rise of Legions is an indie option too.
