Have You Ever? Fandom Edition

Being a geek usually means we’ve got a few favorite fandoms. Every fandom is unique, but there are some commonalities that you may or may take part in. And that is what this tag is all about.

Have you ever made fan art?

Unless what I design for A Geek Girl’s Tees counts, no I don’t. I guess it can count since they are various designs based on various fandoms that just happen to be for merchandise. But I am not an artist creating fan art like some other awesome people do.

Have you ever written fan fiction?

I’m kind of embarrassed to say yes to this one. I did it a very long time ago back in middle school when obsessed with the Jonas Brothers on a site that has long since been gone. And I may or may not have worked on something recently, but that is not something I plan on sharing without anonymity.

Have your ever gone to a special event for a fandom? (midnight releases, etc.)

The only midnight release I’ve been to was when The Hunger Games came out on DVD and that was more to go with friends than to go because of the fandom (although I do really enjoy The Hunger Games).

Way, way back my local library hosted Harry Potter themed events during the summer that I would not only attend but volunteer at. I got to be the sorting hat at one of them.

Have you ever been active in a fandom community online?

I will be honest, I find fandom communities very toxic at times and I don’t actively engage in any. When i want to geek out, I interact with fellow bloggers via socials and make content and that is my activity within fandoms.

Have you ever made friends because of mutual fandoms?

I can’t recall any friends that were made specifically cause of mutual fandoms. Mutual fandoms were revealed in the friendship, but not necessarily the foundation. Closest I can think of is via gaming in general.
