The Tabletop Writer’s Guild is hosting a diversity initiative with different weekly prompts for all the board game writers out there. The first challenge is the talk about the game(s) that brought you into the hobby.

First Game I Ever Played: Uno
I clearly remember playing Uno as a toddler having to have a card holder hold my cards because my hands were too small. I was only maybe 3 or 4 years old when this happened.

The Childhood Games: Scattergories, Dominoes, Apples to Apples, Cards Against Humanity
My family has played games throughout my whole childhood. Scattergories is a go-to, even now, for my immediate family. Dominoes is a popular choice among my extended family. Apples to Apples and Cards Against Humanity were the popular-among-friends game. During this time I did fall out of playing board games as much as I developed other interests.

The Gateway Game: Superfight and Board Game YouTube
It may not be the most beloved gateway game of all time, but Superfight is the game that kickstarted my exploration of games beyond the mainstream ones I knew. Superfight is also the first game I wrote about on this here blog. I found Superfight from watching people play games on YouTube. Superfight specifically was introduced to me through the long-gone SourceFed crew. And then I started watching Wil Wheaton’s Tabletop on Geek and Sundry and that really got me into board games to the point I am now.
