Spotlight On: Red Web

Red Web is a mystery podcast where the hosts discuss various mysteries, true crimes, anomalies, and conspiracies. I have never been one to enjoy true crime mysteries, but I have found myself listening to each and every episode of this podcast which is why I’m giving it the spotlight.

Red Web is a podcast produced by Rooster Teeth and hosted by Rooster Teeth regulars Trevor Collins and Alfredo Diaz, with Trevor being the storyteller and Alfredo blind reacting and theorizing alongside his co-host. They cover everything from unsolved murders to disappearances to cryptids to paranormal activity and beyond.

It’s easy to jump around the episodes to listen to what you want to, so if murders aren’t your thing, you can listen to the cryptids or disappearances instead. And while they cover largely famous cases like the Zodiac Killer and Bigfoot, there are others that I’ve never heard of like a popular song from 80’s radio that no longer exists or a mystery soda machine that dispensed out of production sodas for years.

I’ve gotten into the habit of listening to the podcast while I’m working on something, like writing this post, as it has a more chill, conversational vibe. This vibe is also why I enjoy it compared to other true crime or mystery media that dramatizes the topics too heavily or has so many visuals that are just way too unsettling and thus makes me uncomfortable. And yet I can listen to the stories of serial killers on Red Web without issue.

Whether you’re a true crime veteran or a mystery newbie like me, Red Web is an enjoyable dive into all of the unsolved in the world that is comfortable to listen to and widely informative on the topics. You can also get a good laugh when they mention yet another 90’s movie, which happens more often then you’d think.
