Ateez released their latest album, THE WORLD EP. FIN: WILL, today. And as a big fan of their music, I had to give it a listen and share my thoughts.
We Know
An excellent album starter. I love how moody it is. This track definitely sets the tone for the full-group section of the album.
Emergency
I like it, but I wish there was a more impactful song following the opener. I like when the title track is the second song when there is an opener because I find that to be such a strong start for an album, especially an Ateez album.
Crazy Form
I like it, but it is not my favorite title track from them. The chorus is lacking impact for me. The pre-chorus has this build up, but the chorus doesn’t drop enough for me. I think I would enjoy the song more if it wasn’t supposed to be a title track.
ARRIBA
I really enjoy when K-Pop has a latin influence. I also like how Ateez didn’t lose their personal style while experimenting with it.
Silver Light
Going from latin to synth is a bit of an interesting choice. And I think the synth works much better for them, especially for their vocalists. The vocals sound so good in this song. The instrumental is also so satisfying to listen to. It’s such a streamlined track and I could have it on repeat easily.
Crescent Part 2
This is simply an instrumental interlude but it honestly could become a full film score if it wanted to.
Dreamy Day
It’s a pleasant song, but not one I’d find myself listening to very much outside of the album honestly.
MATZ
The fact that this song is just Hongjoong and, most surprisingly, Seonghwa, blows my mind. I really like it, as I tend to lean towards the hard-hitting tracks in general. Seonghwa really got to showcase the true depth of his skills in this song.
IT’s You
I really like this song and how groovy it is. Of the subunit songs, this one is my favorite.
Youth
I enjoy the old-school vibe of the instrumental. Yunho’s vocals really stand out and shine in this song.
Everything
I am not a ballad fan, but I can’t deny that Jongho sounds incredible in the song. His voice is just so nice to listen to.
FIN: WILL
This is an instrumental closer with some voice samples. It reminds me of an Enhypen intro, which isn’t necessarily negative. It’s an interesting way to end the album, and the latter half of the track I really enjoy and think it ends the album well.
Overall
Overall, this is a solid album. I am admittedly not very enthusiastic about it, but I do believe it is a good album with great songs. Just, compared to other Ateez albums, it isn’t my all-time favorite.
Did you listen to Ateez’s new album? What was your favorite song? Let me know with a comment.
