Twice, one of K-Pop’s most beloved groups, came stateside to perform the encore show for their 5th world tour in Las Vegas. I made the trek to my neighbor state to see them and this is my recap of the concert!
When it comes to scale, this concert was the largest I have been to thus far. It took place in Allegiant Stadium, an NFL stadium, and the place was definitely packed. The downside of it being in such a large venue was more due to the location, which is right by The Strip and a bunch of construction, so a fifteen-minute drive took an hour. I have to admit, I don’t ever intend on going to another show at Allegiant because it was such a headache to get to. On the plus side, this was the only negative part of the event.
Before twice took the stage, there was an opening act which was the recently debuted group under JYP: VCHA. I personally know the bare minimum about VCHA and have listened to maybe one song of theirs, so I was not that enthusiastic about them. They did a great job, even when they were a member short. It was a little odd with the timing, particularly once VCHA was done there was a decent break between them an Twice coming out almost as if there were technical difficulties or some other issue delaying the show. But once Twice took the stage, everything ran smoothly.
Twice was amazing of course, but their energy seemed to be low at the start of the concert. The only member who seemed to be energized the entire concert was Jihyo, which is unsurprising since she was born to perform. Nayeon seemed to be uncomfortable in her first outfit which was affecting her performance. And everyone else seemed to be maybe conserving their energy, which I understand but at least for the first song I want big energy for an exciting start. I do think the venue size does affect some of this because the audience didn’t feel as energetic as they have in other concerts I’ve been at. A bigger space takes more energy to fill with excitement, and that was a struggle for Twice it seems.
Every member sounded great and performed well. As the show went on everyone seemed to loosen up and have more fun, which made for a more fun show. They also performed their more iconic songs in the middle, which got the audience very excited.
Overall, the concert was enjoyable but not my favorite concert experience I’ve ever had. Twice is an iconic group, and I just wanted more from their performance. I do think there were various factors affecting their performance like ill-fitting costumes and delays in starting, so I’d give them another chance at a different venue.
Are you seeing any concerts soon? Let me know in the comments!
I’m not a concert person, so i dn’t intend to ever go to any. Well.. maybe the next time Andre rieu comes through…. but anyway… It looks like it was a great show! I’m glad you got to experience it.
I know almost nothing about VCHA either, but I believe they’re all Americans or Canadians and have been put together in an attempt to help bring kpop to the “Western Audience” even more than it’s currently doing.
