Continuing the 30 Challenge today with one all about music! And this time, there is no K-Pop. So let’s get into it.
a song you discovered this month
Wonder by Shawn Mendes. I enjoy a lot of Shawn Mendes’ music and Wonder is no different.
a song from a group
Gold by Imagine Dragons. An underrated song from them for sure. And that whole album, Smoke + Mirrors, is really good.
a song from a soloist
Mad Hatter by Melanie Martinez. One of my favorite artists and the whole Cry Baby album is amazing.
a song from your favorite artist
Colors (Stripped) by Halsey. I really, really love this song especially the stripped version.
a song from your favorite genre
Copycat by Billie Eilish. It took me a while to figure out what my favorite genre was defined as, and I kind of settled on Electropop. But in general genre doesn’t stop me from enjoying a song or artist.
a song that always makes you smile
Drops of Jupiter by Train. This is my all-time favorite song. It was the only song that made me feel better after my grandma passed away in 2012.
a song that makes you cry
90 Days by Pink ft. Wrabel. I definitely cried hard to this song after a bad heartbreak.
a song that gets you hyped
Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. This was on my pre-show playlist when I marched drum corps.
a song that relaxes you
Us Again by Benji Lewis. Such a good chill song.
a song that makes you dance
I’m So Excited by The Pointer Sisters. If you don’t dance when this song comes on, I am concerned for you.
a song from the decade you were born
Baby One More Time by Britney Spears. I was a big Britney fan as a kid actually.
a song title in all lowercase
joy by KING & COUNTRY. It is a Christian song, and I am not religious, but it does have an infectious positivity to it that I enjoy.
a song title that is in all uppercase
CAN’T DANCE by Meghan Trainor
an underrated song
Paper Houses by Niall Horan. Even I forgot about this song until I was scrolling through playlists for this tag. It’s a really beautiful song.
a song title that has three words
Move Your Body by Sia. This would also qualify for a hype song and make you dance song.
a song that reminds you of summertime
Hallelujah by Pentatonix. Hallelujah is the corps song for the corps I marched/worked for so that’s why. It’s very bittersweet now.
the first song that plays on shuffle
Hold Back The River by James Bay. I love James Bay so glad he made it on the list somehow.
a song that someone showed to you
To Hell and Back by Maren Morris. My best friend showed me this song.
a song from a movie soundtrack
The Theme from Schindler’s List. While a dark film, the theme is so hauntingly beautiful and I really love it.
a song with multiple versions
How Do You Sleep? by Sam Smith. There is a “sleep” version as well as the original.
a song with no lyrics
Environments by Berlinist. It’s from the GRIS soundtrack, which all of it is gorgeous and wonderful. Environments is just one of my favorites.
a song that reminds you of somebody
It’s Raining Men by The Weather Girls. A strange song I know but here is the story. My college job as a peer mentor meant I was partnered with a professor and their first-year seminar class. For the majority of my time in the job I had the same faculty member who I love and is a mentor to me. She would play music before the class start for fun and to wake up the class, and on rainy days she would play It’s Raining Men.
a song to drive to
LA Devotee by Panic! At The Disco. Super upbeat and fast tempo is what I enjoy driving to.
a song with a number in the title
365 by Zedd and Katy Perry.
a song with a color in the title
BLUE by Troye Sivan ft. Alex Hope. A really lovely song.
a song with an animal in the title
Black Horse and a Cherry Tree by KT Tunstall
a song that you’ve had stuck in your head
I’ve had so many songs stuck in my head at one point or another so choosing one is too hard.
a song that helps you fall asleep
To Each His own by Talos. It’s a very soft and peaceful song.
a song that describes how you feel right now
Ok Not To Be Ok by Marshmello and Demi Lovato. This isn’t exactly 100% how I feel but I do agree with the sentiment.
a song you want to share
Blue Hour by Mothica. A lot of Mothica’s music is great and she is pretty underrated so go check her out.
