2023 was a busy year for me and I got to experience many great things. Looking back, I couldn’t help but think about my favorite experiences, including all of the concerts I saw. This is my personal ranking of all of the concerts I saw in 2023.
9. KCON Day 3
The KCON concerts make up the end of my ranking for various reasons, and each day has its own rankings too. Day 3 is in last place because that day overall was a little bit of a mess thanks to a massive rainstorm. The show subsequently got delayed, which is mostly fine, but our seats (which we didn’t get to pick our own) were pretty terrible. We were also pretty tired from the previous two days and didn’t have as much enthusiasm. And the difficulty with a multi-artist show is that you may or may not like every artist performing. Day 3 had some odd bonus acts that really killed the vibe of the show. You can read my full recap of the concert here.
8. KCON Day 1
The first show of KCON was certainly better than the last. The artist lineup for Day 1 wasn’t the one I was most excited about in all honesty, and none of the performances got me all that excited. Seeing Taemin live and Baby Don’t Stop by Ten and Taeyong were easily the best parts. You can read my full recap of the concert here.
7. KCON Day 2
Day 2 Show was easily the best day, primarily because it was the one Ateez headlined and they put on an amazing show. This particular show had a very energetic crowd thanks to ZEROBASEONE’s performances and their massive fanbase. The last-minute addition of XG performing was also great. Day 2 was easily the best of the three KCON shows, but still suffers from the multi-artist struggle. You can read my full recap of the concert here.
6. Purple Kiss
Purple Kiss was one of the shows that I saw in November and didn’t manage to write a recap for. It is unfortunately the lost of the single artist shows for a couple of reasons. One big one was their decision to perform many of their songs with an English version as opposed to the original. One or two songs like that are okay, but not the majority of the set, and especially not the debut track. Also, a member was missing due to conflicting scheduling, so that was disappointing.
5. Tomorrow X Together
So the TXT concert was a spontaneous decision when I managed to get into the fan presale midway through the day. They are one of my most listened to groups but I don’t follow the members that closely. Since this particular tour was for my favorite album of theirs, it was a very fun experience that I enjoyed. You can read my full recap of the concert here.
4. The Rose
From here on, all of these shoes are great and not a single one disappointed. The Rose was another concert I saw in November as a birthday gift for my best friend who loves the band and I was a much more casual listener. That concert made me a fan.
3. Everglow
I had such a good time at Everglow’s show, another November concert, and I was not expecting to have as much fun as I did. For a show that was the day before Thanksgiving, it had no right to be that enjoyable. But it was one of the most fun concerts and thus got it quite high on the list.
2. Stray Kids
Stray Kids holds a special place in my heart as being the first concert I have ever seen. And they are one of my favorite groups ever, so I of course had a blast. Stray Kids is certainly a group that I’ll see again in the future. You can read my full recap of the concert here.
1.Agust D
Agust D (aka Suga of BTS) was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget. He put on such an incredible show and I honestly feel so lucky that I got to see him live. You can read my full recap of the concert here.
With that, 2023 is coming to a close. Here’s to more concerts in 2024! Happy New Year!
