Favorite Underrated Disney Movies

We know that Disney has created some of the best animated films to ever exist, but some just don’t get the recognition they should. So I am sharing my favorite underrated Disney movies for today’s Saturday Six.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Atlantis is definitely a darker film, but I find the overall story and the interpretation of Atlantis really interesting. Plus it has its funny moments still and Kida is awesome.

Treasure Planet

Even I forget Treasure Planet exists sometimes. But it is definitely very underrated as a retelling of Treasure Island. Plus there is Morph, who is adorable.

The Great Mouse Detective

I remember watching The Great Mouse Detective when I was a kid and enjoying, so I watched it again recently and still really enjoy it.

The Emperor’s New Groove

The Emperor’s New Groove has been getting more love recently, but when it came out it was very underrated. It is so funny and Yzma is such an interesting villain.

Robin Hood

I watched the foxy rendition of again recently and it is quite charming still. Plus Lady Kluck is hilarious.

No one ever talks about Brave but it is actually really good! And it is the real first Disney princess film to be about familial love.

What are your favorite underrated Disney films? Let me know in the comments!

  2. This is a first-rate list, not only because I like each of these movies. Hardly anyone mentions The Great Mouse Detective or Treasure Planet. To the list I’d like to add Oliver and Company and The Sword in the Stone.

  4. I love Robin Hood. It was my favorite Disney movie as a kid. I completely forgot about the Great Mouse Detective. I haven’t seen it in years. Wow! I also like Brave. Ultimate girl power movie lol.
