Disney just released a new mobile game called Sorcerer’s Arena. You play as various Disney characters battling enemies to become the next sorcerer. Since I have played other Disney mobile games, I knew I wanted to give this one a go.
You will have a team of up to 5 characters that will go into battles against various foes. Each character has their own set of stats and special abilities and can be leveled up to become stronger and unlock different abilities. Characters also have gear tiers that will boost stats like defensive ones. The main form of progression is through the campaigns, but you can also unlock the tournament mode which is PvP.
To unlock characters as well as level them up, you need their specific character token, which you earn by playing the game. You can also purchase certain characters or tokens, like any mobile game offers, but that is not the sole way to get new characters as far as I can tell. The game will even tell you where you can get certain tokens which is nice if you want to level up or get specific characters.
One thing I wish the game had was level up all button of some kind. Once you start accumulating characters and they each get level and tier ups, having to go into each individual character to do that is a pain. Same with claiming quests it would be nice to have a claim all option. There is an equip all option for gear, so why isn’t it elsewhere too?
Another thing I’m not necessarily a fan of is that there is a lot of pieces you can earn and stuff to understand. There are two different types of energy, gold and diamonds as currency, potions and gear pieces and tokens, oh my! A lot of it just screams mobile game pay-to-win nonsense. It’s a bit excessive and hard to keep track of.
Overall, this is my favorite of the Disney mobile games I have played. I like the turn-based strategy of it and the ability to build your team of characters based on special skills and powers. I also like that it isn’t trying to follow too strict of a story like Disney Heroes Battle Mode had. I’ve been enjoying it and have the goals of getting Mulan as leveled up as possible and to also have a badass all-female squad. So if you like Disney and turn-based strategy games, give Disney Sorcerer’s Arena a try.
Also, if you do decide to play and are a geeky creator of any kind, you can join my club! It is simply called Geeky Creators!
