Rising Lords is a turn-based medieval strategy game that is currently out on early access. With board and card game elements along with the turn-based system, I knew I wanted to give this one a try.
A copy of this game was provided for the purposes of this review.

You play as a lord trying to rise the ranks and gain more power throughout the kingdom. You can do this by going to battle with other lords, increase production, resource gathering, diplomacy and treason, tax and rations, and more. Besides the campaign mode, there is also multiplayer campaigns as well as quick battles where you focus on fighting over all the other strategies. You can also do quick matches solo versus AI.

Game play is very straightforward and easy to get into if you are familiar with turn-based strategy like Sid Meier’s Civilization. I mostly tried out quick matches and they were really simple to get started in and you can control difficulty.

It’s clear that the devs are putting a lot into this game and it will be a strong turn-based strategy game. The amount of choice players get is really nice so you can really play your way and play multiple times with different strategies.
The art I also think is worth a shout out because it is perfect for this game. The medieval painting style makes sense and works well with the board game feel the game has as well.

Overall, if you enjoy turn-based games you should give Rising Lords a try. It is already a solid game that is definitely going to get better as they continue to develop it. It is currently available on Steam.
