June is at its end so I’m giving my quick takes on all of the debuts and comebacks we got from K-Pop!
I’m only sharing the debuts and comebacks I actually paid attention to and not every single one that happened in the month. So if a favorite artist of yours isn’t in here, tell me about them in a comment and I’ll check them out!
Debuts
Lock Down by EPEX
I am mainly a boy group stan and I do enjoy the darker and harder concepts. But Lock Down was mediocre honestly. They don’t stand out at all and that song and concept could be done by a number of other groups. For a debut, it’s too generic.
Vanilla by LIGHTSUM
I was a little wary going in since it looked very bubble gum pop, which isn’t my favorite, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is colorful and bright, but is musically more diverse than just a sugary pop song. It is a stand out debut, especially with girl crush being much more common now.
Comebacks
Gambler by Monsta X
Monsta X never disappoints honestly. It’s classy and powerful, which is perfect for them and the concepts they’ve been doing more. It’s a worthy follow up to Love Killa.
Up All Night by Ghost9
I don’t know how to feel honestly. This comeback is the complete opposite of everything else they have done, and I do prefer their darker, badass concepts more than this one. It’s not bad just unexpected which is a little confusing.
Don’t fight the feeling by EXO
I really like the song and the video I don’t understand what it has to do with the song. I know EXO has a whole storyline so I assume it is connected to that more than the song itself, but I did laugh a little at this very upbeat dance song being done on a military aircraft.
Alcohol-Free by Twice
Admittedly I prefer boy groups over girl groups, although I do have some girl groups I enjoy. And I do like some of Twice’s music, but I’m not a fan of Alcohol-Free. I find it boring and didn’t finish watching the music video honestly. They’ve had better, in my opinion.
BYE BYE BYE by WEi
Musically it is refreshing compared to all the other comebacks we are getting right now. I definitely enjoy the song.
Ready to Love by Seventeen
I like the song, but it isn’t the most unique or special comeback song or video. I paid little attention to the video to be honest.
Poison by Pink Fantasy
This song is like an anime theme. They definitely leaned horror with this concept and it is rock over pop, which is fine. It’s cool, but I ultimately only checked it out because Pink Fantasy is a very unique group.
Higher by A.C.E
I think this is one I’ll need to listen to a few times to properly enjoy. It’s definitely not bad and I like it, but something in the mixing on the video sounded off to me. Their vocals needed to be louder, so that distracted me from everything else honestly.
