Disney is often known for their music, which includes the protagonists singing about their desires and dreams. These songs are referred to as “I Want” songs and I am putting some up against each other for this edition of save one, drop one.
The songs were randomly put together through a randomizer.
How Far I’ll Go from Moana vs. Go The Distance from Hercules
I enjoy How Far I’ll Go as much as the next Disney fan, but there is something really special and also underrated about Go The Distance. If I wanted a song to motivate me for some reason, I’d choose Go The Distance. Thus, I’m saving Hercules this round.
Almost There from The Princess and the Frog vs. I Just Can’t Wait To Be King from The Lion King
I don’t really have strong feelings one way or another about these songs. I have more nostalgia for The Lion King so I am inclined to save Simba’s I Want song over Tiana’s.
Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid vs. Reflection from Mulan
Part of Your World is truly iconic, but Reflection is as well. I personally relate to Reflection more and Mulan is my favorite movie and character of all of Disney, so I am saving it over Ariel’s.
Let It Go from Frozen vs. When Will My Life Begin from Tangled
It is no secret that I do not like Frozen, but I will admit that Let It Go is a decent I Want song. But it has been so overplayed that I also can’t really stand it. So I am easily saving When Will My Life Begin, which I do think is a good song and a great introduction to both Rapunzel and Tangled.
Just Around The Riverbend from Pocahontas vs. Out There from The Hunchback of Notre Dame
I am going to save Just Around The Riverbend mainly because I know it better. It has been a long time since I’ve seen Hunchback and while I know the music is amazing, I don’t necessarily feel a connection to Out There.
Belle from Beauty and the Beast vs. For The First Time In Forever from Frozen
Definitely saving Belle, mainly because I am not a Frozen fan, but also because it serves as a great introduction to not only Belle but the citizens of the town and the villain Gaston.
Someday My Prince Will Come from Snow White vs. A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes from Cinderella
I really, really dislike Snow White’s singing voice, so there is no way I am saving it. I also prefer that A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes is not explicitly about falling in love with a prince.
