D23, Disney’s semi-annual fan expo, just concluded this past weekend and brought many exciting announcements across all segments of Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar. I wanted to highlight the announcements that I am personally looking the most forward to.

A new Musical movie from Disney Animation Studio
Of all the movie announcements, the one that caught my eye was the next musical movie about Asha, the heroine, wishing on a star and a troublesome star coming to Earth to join her on her adventure. The movie is titled Wish and is set to premiere in November 2023.

San Fransokyo Coming to DCA
The Pacific Wharf area of Disney’s California Adventure is being re-themed to the Big Hero 6 location San Fransokyo. I love this because Big Hero 6 doesn’t get enough love and it will also be a great addition that bridges the gap between Avenger’s Campus and Pixar Pier. Animated superheroes will really do the trick.

More Details for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
For those that don’t know, Splash Mountain is being overhauled into a Princess and the Frog-themed ride. The attraction will follow Tiana venturing into the bayou to find animal friends. She’s hosting a party for the people of New Orleans, but it’s missing a special ingredient. As for the timeline of the attraction update, it is scheduled that both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom will open in 2024.

Moana Coming to Animal Kingdom
Dinoland USA is being completely re-done, and based on the new concept art for the area it looks like a Moana-themed attraction is coming. Moana fits perfectly in this park in my opinion so I really hope this does come to fruition. Zootopia is also said to be coming to Animal Kingdom, but I honestly don’t think it fits that well with the rest of the park.

Mickey’s Toontown Concept Art
The Disneyland land has been undergoing an overhaul and new concepts were released to show what is coming to the area besides Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Donald’s Boat and Goofy’s House are getting refreshed play areas for the youngest guests including a splash pad at Donald’s and musically interactive spots at Goofy’s. Another interactive edition will be the “El CapiTOON Theatre” which will have scenes from different Disney cartoons that guests can interact with. It is nice to see this much-needed refreshment of an area that fell to the wayside for years.

Disney Treasure Being Added to The Crusie Line
A Disney Cruise is on my bucket list and the announcement of an adventure-themed cruise ship called the Disney Treasure. Along with this, Disney Cruise Line also announced adding cruises to Australia and New Zealand which is pretty awesome. And a new exclusive island is being added in the Bahamas called Lighthouse Point.
What news from D23 has you excited? Let me know with a comment!
Whew. Lots to look forward to. That’s a heck of a lot of magic.
