Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island is an upcoming game about helping Greek gods and goddesses restore their lost memories on a mysterious island. Let’s take a first look at this indie adventure game from Polygon Treehouse and Whitethorn Games.
Thanks to LudoNarraCon for inviting me as press and giving me access to this demo.

In Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island, you play as Alex who gets stranded on the mysterious Ambrosia Island after a sudden storm. While looking for help and shelter, you come across familiar gods and goddesses of Greek mythology who are also lost on this island with their memories like buried treasure all around the island. You’ll need to help them recover these memories so they can remember who they are, make friends amongst the immortals, and they’ll try to help you escape the island.

If you are familiar with the developer’s first game Röki, you’ll notice that the gameplay and basic mechanics are similar between the two. Completing individual missions to work towards a greater goal are included in both games, along with the inspiration and premise utilizing mythology. Mythwrecked does include some new mechanics that we are briefly introduced to in the demo, one being the friendship mechanic to unlock more information and opportunities. The more friendly you are with a particular immortal, the more they are willing to help you.

Not only are you trying to get home, but there is also a mystery to solve on this island. We only get a small hint of what this entails in the demo, but this overarching mystery is what caused all of the gods and goddesses to lose their memories and identity. So while we are helping our new friends, we’ll also need to figure out why it happened in the first place and whether it is connected to your stranding and stopping you from returning home.

Overall, I am really looking forward to Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island. I really enjoyed Röki, so having a similar game that still brings its own unique aspects makes me excited to play.
There is not a firm release date for Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island beyond 2023. You can wishlist it on Steam right now.
