Save One Drop One: 4th Gen Boy Group Showdown

The 4th generation of K-Pop has boomed, giving us so many amazing artists that I couldn’t fit them all in one showdown. So it is the battle of the boy groups in this save one drop one showdown.

For these generation showdowns, I am pitting each group’s debut track against each other. If a debut track couldn’t be used, I went with an early song in their discography. I also tried pairing groups based on similar concepts or musicality. Don’t forget to place your own votes for which songs to save in the polls!

Pirate King by Ateez vs. Hellevator by Stray Kids

This is going to be the most difficult pick of this post because I love both of these groups. But focusing on these two songs specifically, I have to save Pirate King. My Stay heart aches a little, but Ateez’s debut is so good.

Crown by Tomorrow X Together vs. Break all the Rules by Cravity

My instincts say to save Crown because it is a more unique debut song compared to most 4th gen boy group debuts, and I like unique and different.

DU DU DU by TAN vs. Nostalgia by DRIPPIN

This save is one based more on my current mood because I enjoy both tracks equally. But Nostalgia wins out in the end.

Tricky House by xikers vs. Siren by P1Harmony

I have to save P1Harmony, even though Tricky House is a great song. But Siren is one of my all-time favorite debuts plus it doesn’t suffer from sounding too similar to another group, unlike xikers which are definitely influenced by their brother group Ateez.

Valkyrie by ONEUS vs. Movie Star by CIX

Valkyrie is an incredible song, especially for a debut. And while I love Cix, Movie Star just isn’t a favorite of mine. So I am saving Oneus.

Ring Ring Ring by VERIVERY vs. Think of Dawn by Ghost9

This showdown is actually the first time I have listened to either of these songs. Ring Ring Ring is not really my preferred style, so I am saving Ghost9’s Think of Dawn.

Breathe by AB6IX vs. time leap by OnlyOneOf

Breathe by AB6IX is one of my favorite songs by them, so OnlyOneOf had a hard opponent that ultimately caused their defeat. OnlyOneOf has great music, but between the two songs I prefer Breathe.

BOY by Treasure vs. Given-Taken by Enhypen

Boy has some of the best choreography I have seen in K-Pop and its overall energetic vibe has me saving it over Given-Taken.

[ays_poll id=”50″]

Ice Age by MCND vs. Vamos by Omega X

I am saving Vamos since it is the track I have actually saved and re-listened to, while I have done neither with Ice Age. I hope the best for Omega X now that they got away from their awful former company.

[ays_poll id=”51″]

Swear by E’LAST vs. Excalibur by Kingdom

E’Last is so incredibly underrated. They have great music, but specifically Swear versus Excalibur, I have to save Excalibur. Kingdom really came out here and wow’ed and I just can’t drop that.

[ays_poll id=”52″]

Bad News by Tempest vs. Breathe Again by Blitzers

So of these two songs, the only one I can remember what is sounds like is Bad News. Nothing against Blitzers, but Tempest had a stronger debut so they are being saved.

[ays_poll id=”53″]

Crush on U by BAE173 vs. Killa by Mirae

I want BAE173 to get more love. But Mirae really surprised me with Killa and it is up there as one of my favorite debuts, so I have to save them.
