Not every song in K-Pop is for everybody, but some songs get so much hate and I honestly don’t know why, and maybe even like them myself. These are some of those songs.
Good Boy Gone Bad by TxT
Supposedly people hated this song because it was too much of a concept change for TxT, as if their going from traditional pop to emo pop punk influence wasn’t. I really enjoyed this comeback and song in particular and don’t think there is anything wrong with it.
Sticker by NCT 127
NCT 127 gets a lot of hate for being noise music, but I personally have no issues with it. That style of music is what NCT does and at this point, if you don’t like it, you really shouldn’t listen to them. Sticker in particular gets hate for the flute line that is added, which I can kind of understand being a bit much, but I honestly like it and think it makes the song stand out positively.
Zimzalabim by Red Velvet
This song is one that I understand why it is not widely enjoyed. Because of the different genres and how the song is overall produced, it really is an acquired taste. My taste just happens to be acquired, so I actually enjoy it.
Side Effects by Stray Kids
I will not tolerate any Side Effects slander. Those that hate it just don’t understand it and won’t even try. Yes, it is noisy, and so is your mind when under stress and illness which is the point of the song. You can dislike it, but those who say it is a bad song just refuse to take a closer look.
Jopping by SuperM
If I hear one more person as “What even is jopping?” I’m going to lose it. They explain what jopping is in the song! Is the song a little ridiculous? Yeah. But there are some amazing verses in it that people ignore.
More & More by Twice
I don’t understand why this song is hated. It may not be everyone’s taste, but the fact it gets hated baffles me. I wouldn’t say it is Twice’s best song, but I still enjoy it.
Ven Para by Weeekly
This is another one that people hated because it was a concept change. I’ll admit that this was a big change for them so if you really preferred their cuter concept than that’s fine. But Ven Para is such a good song once you get passed that. I’m a proponent for artists changing things up and trying new things, and admittedly I prefer the darker girl crush concept so this is my favorite Weeekly song.
Ditto by NewJeans
I didn’t even know that Ditto was disliked until looking up what songs in K-pop are generally disliked. I guess it is because it deviated from the strictly Y2K concept, but that feels like a stretch of an excuse. I really like Ditto and prefer it over their following release OMG which more people seem to enjoy.
All in all, to each their own. We all like what we like and hating on things just isn’t an enjoyable way to live.
What divisive songs do you like? Let me know in the comments!

I’ve never been a fan of Red Velvet, so I’m not familiar with their body of work, really. Just “Psycho” and “Feel My Rhythm” is all, so Zimzalabim is completely new to me. I like it, in the “if it came on the radio I wouldn’t change the station” way, but it’s not something I’d add to a playlist or anything either.
On the other hand, I am familiar with Twice and More and More. It’s not my favorite of theirs, but I’d put it in the top half, at least, and it’s on the Twice playlist i recently put together. I had no idea this was considered a “hated” song.
I’ve never heard of the group Weeekly, so another new one to me. It was fine. Another that I wouldn’t change the radio, but I wouldn’t put it on a playlist either.
I think I saw Ditto back when it released. I think. If I did, then it’s barely memorable to me. If I didn’t, then.. false memory! Listenign again today and…. It’s pleasant, but doesn’t really hook me either. I won’t say it’s bad, just not my cuppa.
