The 4th generation of K-Pop has boomed, giving us so many amazing artists that I couldn’t fit them all in one showdown. So it is the battle of the girl groups in this save one drop one showdown.
For these generation showdowns, I am pitting each group’s debut track against each other. If a debut track couldn’t be used, I went with an early song in their discography. I also tried pairing groups based on similar concepts or musicality. Don’t forget to place your own votes for which songs to save in the polls!
Latata by (G)I-DLE vs. Fearless by Le Sserafim
I am a fan of both of these groups and think both songs are strong debuts. But every time I hear LATATA I’m blown away by how good that song is, so I have to save it.
Ponzona by Purple Kiss vs. Wings by PIXY
Ponzona is such an underrated debut. That song alone made me stan Purple Kiss, which I still do. So even though I like Wings and Pixy, I have to save Ponzona.
Fun! by fromis_9 vs. Puzzle Moon by GWSN
I’m not a fan of overly cute concept, so Fun! is not a song for me personally. So my save goes to GWSN’s Puzzle Moon.
Hi High by Loona vs. woo!ah! by woo!ah!
I know that Hi High is beloved, but it’s not even close to my favorite Loona track and is one I think I’ve listened to twice at most. woo!ah! is much more my taste so I’m saving that song.
Q&A by Cherry Bullet vs. BIM BAM BUM by Rocket Punch
I like both songs. I wanted Q&A to have just a little bit more in it since it was sounding very one-note. I think Bim Bam Bum kept my interest more so I’ll be saving Rocket Punch.
Dall Dalla by Itzy vs. Black Mamba by aespa
My issue with Itzy is I get tired of their songs quickly and easily, including Dalla Dalla. I haven’t had this issue with Black Mamba, which I still enjoy and listen to from time to time. So I am saving aespa this round.
Attention by NewJeans vs. Higher by Fifty Fifty
I like both songs, and I also like b-sides from their respective albums better. I think Attention is much more impactful and interesting so I will save NewJeans
O.O by NMIXX vs. Bon Bon Chocolat by Everglow
I, like many others, struggled to enjoy O.O when it came out and still do, to be honest. That, plus my being an Everglow fan, makes me choose to save Bon Bon Chocolat.
DMT by 3YE vs. Aria by Craxy
I want both of these groups to get so much more recognition. I do think DMT is a better song overall, so 3YE wins the save from me.
Got’Ya by Ichillin vs. Doom Doom Ta by Tri.be
Doom Doom Ta really captured my attention at release and has me still paying close attention to TRI.BE to this day. I also find it a more interesting song than Got’Ya. So TRI.BE is saved.
La Vie en Rose by IZ*ONE vs. WA DA DA by Kep1er
I missed out on the IZ*ONE hype honestly so my pick is less about saving them and more about dropping WA DA DA. When Kep1er debuted I enjoyed the song, but didn’t love it. Now it is so overplayed and the lack of quality is so painfully obvious. So La Vie en Rose is saved for me.
So Bad by STayC vs. Eleven by IVE
Both of these songs are good, but I do think that Eleven is a stronger and more interesting song and, in my opinion, IVE’s best title track to date. So Eleven wins my save.

(G)I-DLE vs Le Sserafim — TBH, I’ve not really cared much for what little I’ve heard either group (though Allergy and Queencard were pretty good, I thought) so I’ve not heard much by either and hadn’t heard either of these before. Of the 2, I preferred (G)I-DLE’s.
Purple Kiss vs Pixy — I’m familiar with PK and not with Pixy. I re-listened to Ponzona and then listened to Wings for the 1st time, and PK gets the nod from me. Wings didn’t feel like there was anything to it.
Fromis_9 vs GWSN — Fromis_9’s was a little “catchier” to me, so they get my nod.
Loona vs Rocket Punch — Hi High “did it” for me a little bit more.
Cherry Bullet vs Rocket Punch — Bim Bam Bum was a tad better.
Itzy vs aespa — I like both songs, but prefer Black Mamba by a large margin.
New Jeans vs Fifty Fifty – I didn’t really care for either, but cared for Higher a little less, so Attention gets the nod.
NMixx vs Everglow — Everglow wins. No contest.
3YE vs Craxy — I liked Craxy’s a but more.
iChillin vs Tri.be — Tribe’s was better for sure.
Iz*one vs Kep1er — I preferred Kep1er’s. Neither are great, but Kepler was a bit more enjoyable, I felt.
Stayc vs Ive — I haven’t ever really cared for Ive. Stayc has been non-offensive and non-memorable to me either. I’ve heard Eleven before and didn’t care for it, so I listened to the Stayc song and…. It was barely 5 minutes ago and I already can’t remember it, but I still feel like I liked it more than Eleven, so….. Stayc gets my vote on this one.
