Hello everyone! It has been a while, but I am back with exciting news and future plans. Let’s catch up!

Where Have I Been?
I know it has been a while since I have posted anything on A Geek Girl’s Guide, both here on the site and on social media in general. The simplest of explanations is that I had reached my apex of burn out with the blog. I had no motivation for it, so it slipped away while I was doing other things.
But I am back, in more ways than just blogging! I did share this on socials briefly, but I have taken up streaming on Twitch again after 8 years. It had been something I’d been wanting to do for a while, and I finally reached a point where I was determined to, at bare minimum, get started. So on good ol’ Friday the 13th I went live again. It has been a wonderful experience thus far, with amazing support from the streaming community over on Threads. So much so that I reached affiliate status on October 25th, just 6 weeks after starting again. Affiliate was my first big goal for streaming, as I wanted to unlock a lot of the fun features affiliates get like channel points and emotes. And I am happy to say I got there!
While I do stream my favorite indie and cozy games, I was also introduced to co-working streams and have been doing those as well. Co-working, also called body doubling, is where streamer and chat come together to get work done, usually using a Pomodoro timer to schedule out working time and break time. I’ve been enjoying it a lot as it helps me focus during the workday and actually get tasks done. Plus, Twitch has a co-working creator club and team, which I am happy to say I am a part of!
To round out this summary of where I have been, I’ll add that the vast majority of my stream-related posting (including my stream schedule and going live notifications) are happening under the social media handle “themeechelle”. themeechelle is also my Twitch name. I have occasionally shared my stream through the blog accounts, but I’m most consistent over @themeechelle on Threads, Instagram, Twitter, and Bluesky.

Where Am I Going?
So, what’s next? Well, I will be coming back to the blog to share all my thoughts and opinions about my favorite things. Video games, board games, k-pop, and theatre are all still big interests of mine, so plenty of that content will return. There will be plenty of throwback field trip posts for different trips and experiences I had while absent.
I already have some new games to play and talk about. I will also be returning as a judge for an upcoming Indie Cup, so stay tuned for official announcements about that in the coming weeks.
I am also planning on doing some design revamp on this site in the near future. I’d like my stream brand and blog to fit together nicely, so there will be some small tweaks happening over here soon. But first things first, the content must return!
I’m excited to be back in my little geeky corner of the internet that I’ve had for 9 years now. I may step away for a while, but I’ll always return home 💜
