Harry Potter was my gateway fandom, and I hold it very near and dear to my heart. Seriously, I love Harry Potter and always will. So when Alice from The Geeky Burrow tagged me for the Ultimate Harry Potter Tag, I couldn’t pass it up.
Goblet of Fire. I was fascinated by it when reading it for the first time. I even listened to the book on audio tapes, yes cassette tapes. Goblet of Fire is also the book that shifts the mood and focus of the books, so it’s a pivotal book really.
Least favorite book?
Order of the Phoenix, solely because that book takes forever to get to the action. It spends so long in Grimwauld place, I got very bored.
I really like Prisoner of Azkaban because it seriously stunning and beautiful to watch and the pacing was good. However, Deathly Hallows part 2 is also so good, but that might be the nostalgia of it being the very end. I cried so much during that movie.
Least favorite movie?
Goblet of Fire is the worst paced movie of all of them. It is so jumpy and cuts out so much, and if you didn’t read the books you would be so lost.
Ah such a hard question! Dumbledore says so many great quotes and so do other characters. I honestly don’t think I could choose just one.
Maybe Bill, he is not as involved in the story but his work in the Order is good. I am not the biggest Weasley fan to be honest.
Favorite female character?
Hermione, hands down.
Voldemort, mainly because he is a fascinating character and his backstory is very interesting. Just analyzing him is interesting.
Favorite male character?
HAGRID! Hagrid is the definition of gentle giant, and is so tender and loving. Hands down my favorite.
Professor McGonagall is so great and I want to be her when I grow up.
WOULD YOU RATHER?
A. Wash Snape’s hair, or B. Spend a day listening to Lockhart rant about himself.
Couldn’t I just use magic to wash Snape’s hair?
Duel A. An elated Bellatrix, or B. An angry Molly
Molly, because I’m not sure she would actually kill me because I never intended on hurting her family.
Travel to Hogwarts via A. Hogwarts Express or B. Flying car
Hogwarts Express. That car is barely able to fly, plus I could get snacks from the trolley like chocolate frogs.
A. Kiss Voldemort or B. Give Umbridge a bubble bath
Again, can I use magic for that bubble bath?
A. Ride a Hippogriff or B. Ride a Firebolt
A only if it’s Buckbeak. Otherwise I’ll ride the Firebolt.
BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION
Is there a character which you felt differently about in the movies VS books?
I can’t really remember, because it’s been so long since I’ve read the books. I might have to say Harry, because he seems significantly more moody in the movies.
Is there a movie you preferred instead of the book?
Richard Harris or Michael Gambon as Dumbledore?
Both, because without either, we wouldn’t have our Dumbledore.
Your top thing (person or event) which wasn’t included in the movie that annoyed you most?
I’ve recently been wishing that there was more of social justice Hermione with SPEW and all of that. She was not as passionate about stuff in the films like she was in the books. Also St. Mungo’s Hospital scene.
If you could remake any of the Potter movies, which would it be?
Maybe Goblet of Fire, but even then I’m not sure.
Which house was your first gut feeling you’d be a part of?
Everybody wanted to be a Gryffindor reading the books, including me.
Which house were you actually sorted into on Pottermore (or another sorting quiz)?
Which class would be your favourite?
Transfiguration, or DADA only with Lupin.
Which spell do you think would be most useful to learn?
Accio [insert anything here] and Alohamora.
Which character do you think at Hogwarts you’d instantly become best friends with?
Hermione, we are so similar we’d easily get along.
If you could own one of the three Hallows, which would it be?
The Invisibility Cloak. It’s like it’s own little way to escape (introvert problems)
Is there any aspect of the books you’d want to change? This can be a character, and event, anything.
I am not a fan of Cho Chang. She is really just there to add romantic angst, and it doesn’t even become a thing.
Lupin. He is the most calm and reasonable and loving in a way. You could tell he cared about Harry. Sirius is definitely number 2 though.
If you could bring one character back to life, which would it be?
Hedwig. I had to stop reading the book for that night because I was emotionally broken.
Hallows or horcruxes?
Hallows, although having that much power is dangerous.
If you would like to do the Ultimate Harry Potter tag, please do! I’d love to see your responses.
