Field Trip: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

I have lived the ultimate dream: I have been to Hogsmeade and Hogwarts. And I have to say, it was just as amazing as you would think, and here is why.

First things first, we got go into the area early, as a part of early admission, where you get to go straight to the Harry Potter section and start riding the rides and shopping. In this time we rode Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, which the queue goes through the castle and has all of our favorite parts of the castle, from the Mirror of Erised to Dumbledore’s Office, to movie paintings, and more! Here is a couple of photos of the walkthrough section to see how incredible it all looks.

The ride itself is really fun, but also really disorientating. Also, there are some scarier moments for sure. And you can’t bring any bags on the ride, so you will put it into a small locker while you are riding it and the lockers are the reason the wait time can be long.

Of course, you absolutely cannot go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter without getting Butterbeer! You can get it as a frozen drink, which is what I got, or the regular juice. I definitely recommend the frozen, especially it hot Southern California weather.

If you remember where this song is from we can be best friends #harrypotter #hogwarts

We also got to watch the Hogwarts Frog Choir perform, and they were really great and entertaining. Another performance they do is the Triwizard Tournament entrances for Beauxbatons and Durmstrang which are pulled right from the film, same music and costume and all.

And of course, we couldn’t leave without stopping by the shops in Hogsmeade. We did not go to Olivander’s, because you have to wait in the longest line in the whole park to get in to get a wand. Honeyduke’s was my favorite, and that where you get all the sweets like Bertie Bot’s Every Flavor Beans and Chocolate Frogs. I also got a Ravenclaw Prefect badge because I would definitely be one. And my wizard card in the Chocolate Frog is Rowena Ravenclaw!

All in all, I am a very happy Harry Potter nerd and wish Hogwarts accepted FAFSA.

  1. I LOVED The WWHP in Orlando! It was so amazing. I can’t wait to go back to ride the Hogwarts express in the new part that they built. I also really want to visit the one in California. It looks just as brilliant!

  3. I’ve always wanted to go there but never gotten to! The closest Universal Studios is in Orlando and if I’m ever out that way, I usually go to Disney World because it’s one of my favorite places! Do they still have the E.T. ride? That used to be my favorite ride when I would go there lol.
