Tabletop Confessions Tag

A little while back I wrote up the Gamer Confessions Tag, and I kept my answers very video game focused as that is how I wrote the prompts. But today is my tabletop version!

A theme you wish you saw more often in games

There are some periods in history that I’d love to see more games on, like 1920’s-1940’s as an example.

A theme you are tired of seeing in games

There are a lot of historical eras depicted in board games, but I am getting a little tired of games that focus on medieval ages. I’d like to dive into other historical periods.

A popular game that you have never played

There are many of these. ut picking one I am going to go with Pandemic, both the original and legacy. Have not played either and don’t see me doing so in the near future.

A game everyone loves that you don’t

The easiest way to describe this is by the game weight. I enjoy light games, like Sushi Go and Love Letter, and don’t go anywhere near heavy games, like 7 Wonders. So for those that love heavy games, all power to you. I’m going to keep my light games.

A game that you love, but no one else seems to

I love Tokaido, and I know it’s not the most unloved game, but it definitely doesn’t get the shout outs of other games out there.

A guilty pleasure game

I like a good round of Uno every now and again. I also like The Game of Life with my parents, as it is easy to play for all of us. Don’t really know if I would call these guilty pleasures, but they are less renowned games in the board game world.

A game you really love but haven’t played in a long time

I haven’t played Tokaido in a while. I also haven’t played Array in a long time and that is one game I do really enjoy.

A game you thought you’d enjoy, but didn’t

Epic Spell Wars was a game I really wanted to get, and when I did get it was enjoyed. But the rules of that game are very unclear and cause discrepancies amongst players. Now we don’t really play it anymore cause it’s just not as fun because the rules are so hard to figure out.

A game you didn’t think was for you, and then loved

Co-op games were never really games I went towards, but after playing Hanabi I am more willing to give them a go in the future.

A game you are still excited for that hasn’t come out yet

I am waiting for some Kickstarter games that I backed last year to arrive, like Pigment and The Lady or The Tiger.
