Happy Birthday to Me! Yes, today is my birthday! I’m officially a quadranscentennial, which sounds like an awesome dystopia cyborg. So for today’s post, I’m sharing 25 of my most favorite things in honor of, well me!
The Basics
Favorite Book
Looking for Alaska by John Green is currently still on top. I also have an affinity for The Great Gatsby.
Favorite TV Show
For reality TV, it’s Top Chef. For non-reality, Daria. I rarely watch TV anymore, but I often rewatch Daria and Top Chef and still watch Top Chef when new seasons come out.
Favorite Movie
I have a hard time choosing a favorite movie. The Devil Wears Prada is up there along with Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby. Mulan is a big favorite from Childhood too.
Favorite Video Game
I talk about it all of the time: Armello. Also up in the favorites is Gris and Night in the Woods.
Favorite Board Game
Ticket to Ride is probably my favorite. It’s my most played game besides the likes of Clue and Uno. I have a special place in my heart for Scattergories too.
Favorite Fandom
Harry Potter. It was the first fandom of mine and I still cherish it, even through all of the weird moments like JK making bizarre things canon.
Favorite Geeky Experience
Choosing one is so hard. Visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for the first time is high up there. Working PAX Unplugged was pretty cool too. Seeing my internet best friend in person for the first time at Twitch Con is also a great one. Disneyland trips with my brother are also wonderful memories. I could go on and on.
Favorite Geeky Memory
So hard to choose! The first that came to mind that is specific is when my brother and I got evacuated off of Splash Mountain. That sounds like it shouldn’t be enjoyable, but it is a fun story and we also got very up close to the scenes which was kinda cool. Also when we got off and were backstage, Pooh waved at us and gave us a heart which was cute.
Favorite Quote
I quote things all of the time honestly, both inspirational and just for laughs. The one quote that came to mind though is “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” from Dumbledore. I use that quote constantly.
Favorite Non-Geeky Hobby
Photography. I wish I got to do it more often, but when I do get to shoot I enjoy it a lot. I started my college education as a photography major before changing too. Now I most often shoot plays and events.
Disney
Favorite Movie
Mulan, always and forever.
Favorite Character
Mulan, hands down.
Favorite Sidekick
This one is a little tricky. I really like Pascal. Mushu, of course, is good too.
Favorite Theme Park Attraction
Haunted Mansion. I have artwork hanging up for the ride and have read so much of the lore and origins of the ride.
Favorite Pixar Film
I think I’ve gotta pick Brave, which I feel is highly underrated. Inside Out is also one of my favorites, but Brave edges it out a bit. I like my strong female characters.
Harry Potter
Favorite Character
I used to always say Hermione, who I do still love, but it has grown to more so be Hagrid.
Favorite Book
Goblet of Fire is my favorite book. I love the Triwizard Tournament and how it’s the transition from a more lighthearted children’s story to the darker magic at hand.
Favorite Mythical Creature
Phoenix. The reborn from the ashes of one’s self is so symbolic.

Favorite Class
Defense Against the Dark Arts is my favorite area of magical education. Expecto Patronum is my favorite spell so DADA is fitting.
Favorite Dumbledore Quote
Well my favorite quote, in general, is Dumbledore, as shared above. Another one is “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” from Prisoner of Azkaban.
Randomly Geeky
Favorite Broadway Musical
Hamilton. It’s always gonna have a special place in my heart after all the help it gave me through dark times.
Favorite DCI Show
For those that don’t know, DCI is Drum Corps International. It’s like the NFL of marching band, as a very brief description. I was a performer in DCI for a couple years and used to be a giant band geek.
For my favorite show ever, it is the 2008 Phantom Regiment “Spartacus”. It’s the show that made me amazed and transfixed on this often ignored hobby. I also love 2011 Cadets “Between Angels and Demons”, 2011 Phantom Regiment “Juliet”, 2014 Boston Crusaders “Animal Farm”, 2017 Boston Crusaders “Wicked Games”, and 2014 Oregon Crusaders “Nevermore” (I was in this one).
Favorite Geeky Possession
It’s a four-way tie between my Mulan ears, my custom Hamilton Funko Pop, my signed copy of Looking for Alaska, and my signed by the OBC Hamilton Poster.
Favorite Geeky Thing from Childhood
Most of my favorite geeky things came from my childhood, so picking one is very difficult. My love of theme parks, particularly Disneyland, came from my childhood the most.
Favorite Random Fact About Myself
This is always the hardest question! I’ll go with that I can spell Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from memory. It’s like my party trick.

Happy Birthday!! Mulan is a great character.
I love Mulan too! I wrote a fanfiction on wattpad starring Shan Yu and it was my most successful creation. Harry Potter I also love and Hermione is still my favourite. Happy birthday. 🎂
