I was tagged with a Real Neat Blog Award by Ashlee at Her Geekery!
I don’t do a lot of these kinds of posts, mainly because after blogging for so long you get tagged in them over and over again. But I decided to do this one because Ashlee asked some really fun and geeky questions.
The Rules:
Display the award logo.
Thank the blogger who nominated you and post a link to their blog.
Answer the questions of the one who nominated you.
Nominate 7-10 bloggers.
Ask them seven questions.
Thanks again to Ashlee at Her Geekery for this! Make sure to check out her blog, especially since she just came back to the geeky blogging space!
Ashlee’s Questions:
What is your absolute favorite fandom?
Gotta go with Harry Potter. It’s the one I always go back to, whether it be for blog post ideas or just personally for various things.
If you could travel the world with any fictional character, who would it be?
Lara Croft would be pretty cool to travel the world with. She would know so much about where we were and we could go raid tombs. It would be quite an adventure.
Or New Scamander. Meeting magical creatures would be amazing! And less dangerous than adventures with Lara.
What book (or comic) have you read over and over again?
I basically never re-read anything because when I read it the second time, I already know what is happening and lose interest. However, the most recent re-visit was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone because it had been many, many years since the first read and the second time I did the audiobook.
If you could bring back any finished show for a new season, which one would you bring back?
Daria, which is my all-time favorite TV show. However, I don’t want to add a 6th season after the 5th, but add a season prior to the 5th. Mainly because the 5th season ended everything so well before the final movie they made that just tied the perfect bow on the gift that was Daria.
Which fictional world would you want to live in?
The Wizarding World is the only correct answer.
When did you first realize you were a geek?
The first time I actually used the word geek to identify myself in some way was when I started marching band in high school. Band Geek is an easy identifier. I enjoyed geeky things prior, like Harry Potter and Disney and so on, but actually using geek to define myself started with good ol’ band.
Why did you start blogging?
For my on-campus job in college, we got challenged to do a 30-Day Challenge where we did something for 30 days to make it a habit. So I chose to blog. And it has been almost 5 years since, so I think I succeeded with that 30-Day challenge.
My Questions:
- What one item from a video game would you want to own in real life?
- What magical creature would you want to have as a pet?
- What fictional world would you want to go on vacation?
- What is your favorite geeky memory?
- What is the most recent new geeky thing you’ve tried?
- If you could trade lives with a fictional character, who would it be?
- What is something on your geeky bucket list?
Extra Credit!
So I never follow these awards conventionally one way or another. So I decided I’m going to answer my own questions too cause I think they are fun.
What one item from a video game would you want to own in real life?
I feel like a portal gun would be super handy. Being able to make portals connecting you to places would be so nice. You could just always have one going from your house to work and never have to commute.
What magical creature would you want to have as a pet?
Hands down a phoenix. Having my very own Fawkes would be just magical. Plus they are fascinating creatures with healing powers.
What fictional world would you want to go on vacation?
Koriko, which is the town that Kiki moves to in Kiki’s Delivery Service. It is so charming and quaint and by the water. I can get baked goods from Osono’s Bakery and walk the lovely city. Just hope that a dirigible doesn’t crash while I’m there.
What is your favorite geeky memory?
Picking one is so hard. My most favorites are Disneyland trips, especially with my brother. My brother and I plan the best Disneyland trips.
What is the most recent new geeky thing you’ve tried?
Watching anime. I’ve dabbled slightly into that realm but nothing beyond 1 or 2 Ghibli films. But I started watching Attack on Titan and I love it.
If you could trade lives with a fictional character, who would it be?
My most honest answer is a background Hogwarts student in Harry Potter. I’m not part of the main action, but I get to enjoy all the magic.
What is something on your geeky bucket list?
I’ve written whole posts on various geeky bucket lists, from Disney to Harry Potter and just a general one. Go to Walt Disney World is probably number one on my geeky bucket list right now.
Nominees:
This is another one of those parts that I never do conventionally. I am a rule-breaker with these. But since I already did extra credit on this post, I’ll nominate people as normal, in no particular order.
- Amy at Writing Into the Ether
- Heather at Nerdy by Nature
- Katie at The Gaming Diaries
- Matt at Normal Happenings
- Yan and Shanine at Gamer Grills
- Holly at Nut Free Nerd
- Hannie at The Hannie Corner
