We’re back with day 5 of the 30 Day Geek Out Challenge with kind of a difficult question, at least for me.
Just as a reminder, the 30 Day Geek Out Challenge is all about what makes you geeky, from fandoms to hobbies, favorite characters and more. I’m going to do this challenge along with my regular schedule of posts, so there will be tons of content from me this month! Thanks to Megan at A Geeky Gal for creating this!
Today’s question is: What is the geekiest thing you’ve ever done?
And I honestly don’t know. I have options, so defining which one is geekier than the other is hard. So I think I am going to pick the geekiest things I have ever done for each of my main geeky loves.
Disney
Honestly every time I start planning a trip to Disneyland, I geek out so hard. I really love Disneyland, so I have been quite a few times. But the geekiest one I have done is going on Halloween. I have a friend who’s birthday is the 30th of October, so while in college we decided we wanted to go to Disney for his birthday. So we drove the 6+ hours from Sacramento to Anaheim overnight, spent the 30th is Disneyland and Halloween in California Adventure. It was fun seeing everyone in costumes around the park and was definitely a unique experience overall. It was also during Disneyland’s 60th anniversary!
Harry Potter
When I was in college, I worked as a mentor for first-year students. I and my coworkers had the opportunity to travel to a conference in San Diego to do presentations, and we were a group of five planning to do so. Conveniently right before that conference, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened at Universal Studios Hollywood. So the five of us, all being some level a geeky, decided to add a day on to our trip to this academic conference to go be nerds at Hogwarts.
Gaming
Last-minute going to PAX Unplugged to work a both is easily the geekiest thing I’ve done related to gaming. It was a month before the con and I decided to jump on a plane, fly to Philly, and work a board game convention with people I only knew via Twitter.

Those sound amazing and so geeky. I would have loved the Harry Potter one if I’m honest (never been to Wizarding World but if I had gone just whilst I was nearby I’d have loved it). Though I still want to go to Disney and if I ever get the chance I will go full on geeky.
Disney is my absolute favorite when it comes to theme parks. Hopefully you’ll get to go to both one day!
Wow, something really adventurous about jumping on a plane to go do a booth at a convention. I got a lot of anxiety just going to my first one a few months back so big kudos for throwing yourself in 👍🏻
