To get into the spooky spirit, I decided to make The Halloween Tag!
When does the Halloween season start for you?
As a blogger, it starts in September. Maybe even end of August for brainstorming and planning and such. As just a person, October 1st is officially Halloween season to me.
Do you have any Halloween traditions?
My family used to go all out for Halloween and create a haunted house like walkthrough that went through our backyard. They would have different themes each year. We did this for a few years when I was a teenager. We haven’t done it in a long time since my brother helps the community haunted house and I went to college.
What is your favorite Halloween memory?
One year for our walkthrough, we did a burned-down hotel theme. Think Tower of Terror caught fire. I had friends who came and helped out so we had even more cool things going on. And after it was all over, we went in makeup and costume to the 24/7 donut shop.
Do you decorate for Halloween?
Yes! Even when we don’t have the walkthrough we decorate the yard. Since I was a kid we’ve decorated our yard for Halloween.
What has been your favorite Halloween costume you’ve worn?
I wrote a post about the favorite costumes I have worn, but most of them were dance costumes and not Halloween. So for Halloween, I’m going to actually pick last years costume of a pirate. Mainly because that Halloween was a really fun one and the costume is directly connected to that.
If you could be in a Halloween movie (horror or not), which would you choose?
Halloweentown and specifically the first one. I’d like to be a resident in Halloweentown honestly.
How do you plan on celebrating Halloween this year?
I am probably the candy giver for my house since half my family is out of town and I’ll be the most able-bodied at home. We are thinking of how to make it extra fun with a witchy, potion-brewing theming around the door and my costume.
Have you ever carved a Jack-O-Lantern?
Yes, in Kindergarten. It was a class project and all the kids would have a parent come help carve a pumpkin so my dad came to help me. I think ours won an award too.
What is something you want to do to celebrate Halloween one year?
Thinking about it, I don’t think I have ever gone to a Halloween party. But knowing me, I’d be the one hosting it. So I’m going with host a Halloween party.
What is your Halloween costume this year? If you don’t have one, what would you like to be?
Since I am staying home on candy duty and we’re going witchy, I am planning on being a witch. I want to lean more towards Kiki’s mom vibes and not your classic, scary witch.
Do you enjoy a super scary Halloween or a more lighthearted spooky Halloween?
I’m more into the lighthearted spook of it. Like Haunted Mansion at Disneyland level of spook. I don’t mind going a touch creepy and scary but wouldn’t want it entirely that way.
How would you spend a Halloween at home versus going out?
At home, I’d probably play some spooky games like Dead by Daylight. Maybe some board games with my brother or friends.
I’m not much of a going out type of person in general. But a party with some friends or maybe a theme park is up my alley.
Why do you love Halloween?
Halloween is just a really fun and creative holiday. I also have some great memories involving Halloween, especially with my dad. Also, fall is my favorite season, and Halloween really is the hallmark that it is finally fall.
