Many associate board games as a group activity where you need a few friends in order to play. But more and more games are coming out with solo variants or just solo in general! So here are some recommendations for solo board games you can play.
The Lady or the Tiger
The Lady and the Tiger has many variants and is basically 5 games in one. And one of these variants is a solo one that is quite strategic and simple and easy to play.
Fire in the Library
Fire in the Library has not one but two solo variants! You can play against a “robot” player or the lone librarian variant where it is just you versus the game. Either way, you have to press your luck to save as many books as you can.
Dreams of Tomorrow
Dreams of Tomorrow is a set collection, shifting rondel game about building dreams. Players are futuristic Dream Engineers who send dreams to the past to change their present. They accomplish this by moving throughout the Collective Consciousness and using their collected cache of Hope, Experience, and Creativity to aid themselves and their fellow Dream Engineers. The solo mode adds a robot player to be your fellow dream engineer.
Unbroken
Unbroken is a solo only board game where you, the player, take on the role of the sole survivor of a failed adventure. Finding yourself in hostile territory, weak and wounded, you will need to gather your wits and strength, craft weapons from scraps found around you, and attempt to tackle progressively more challenging monsters on your way out of this forsaken place.
Onirim
Onirim is a solo/cooperative card game. You are a Dreamwalker, lost in a mysterious labyrinth, and you must discover the oneiric doors before your dreamtime runs out – or you will remain trapped forever!

I need all of these in my life stat.
There’s a card game called chrononauts that was one of the first to get me interested in board games years ago that’s all about changing time to get a specific version of history. The solo version is really satisfying!
