Here To Slay is a strategic fantasy card game from the makers of Unstable Unicorns. I was a backer of the Kickstarter and wanted to share my thoughts on their latest game.
In this game, you’ll assemble a full party of heroes to slay dangerous monsters while working to avoid the sabotage of your foes. The game also includes items you can equip to your heroes, 1V1 challenge cards, and roll modifiers to tip the odds in your favor.

This game is fairly quick to get into and start playing. I played two-player specifically and the two of us would get 5-6 games in within a couple hours which is a good amount in my opinion. Setup is really straightforward and really the longest part is getting through the rules the first time and sometimes looking up definitions to clarify things.

There were some things I wish were a little more clear in the rules, specifically involving challenge cards. Those cards were the ones we had the most questions about both nights we played and it really came down to not being 100% clear on what we could and couldn’t challenge.
The art is really cute and clean and I love all the unique heroes as well. It’s the same art style and quirk that Unstable Unicorns has and I enjoy with it’s own game play mechanics that make the game different.

The version I have is the Kickstarter Exclusive version which does have some extras you won’t get in the base game. This includes a special box, unique hero and leader cards, exclusive item and magic cards, and a dice tower. None of this vastly changes the gameplay and is really just some bonus items for backing the project.

Overall, Here To Slay is a great game for any level of board gamer. It has plenty of strategy but is easy to get into and enjoy. It is a game that I would bring out to play with friends, both gamers and non-gamers alike.
