I’ve covered both girl and boy groups, so now it is time to talk about the hidden gems K-Pop soloists have. Check out my favorites.
Shadow by Taemin
Taemin is my favorite soloist if I had to pick one. He’s such an incredible performer and his entire discography is awesome. Shadow is such a powerful song and could have been a title track. It’s dramatic and powerful, which is very Taemin, and is overall a strong track.
Burn Out by AleXa
AleXa has very few b-sides. I choose Burn Out because I think it is a good companion track to Revolution, the title track of that comeback. It’s fitting for her and her concept but gives us new energy since all her other songs are very energetic EDM, while this is more chill comparatively.
9Lives by Hyolyn
Hyolyn is often only known for her title tracks which tend to be more provocative and sexual. 9Lives is almost the complete opposite of those. It is vulnerable and shows how amazing her vocals are.
Reason by Kai
Honestly, all of the songs on Kai’s debut album are amazing. Reason may actually be my favorite of them all and I think it just really fits Kai well.
Here I Am by Taeyeon
This is easily my favorite song by Taeyeon and was one of the first I ever listened to in her solo discography. It is a beautiful song that features her vocals so nicely. I don’t normally gravitate to this kind of song within K-Pop, but it’s just too good to ignore.
Digital by Kang Daniel
I tend to like Kang Daniel’s title tracks more than his b-sides, but Digital is one of my favorite songs from him overall. I really like the concept and tone, especially how it relates to the rest of the album.
Thirsty by Taemin
We started with Taemin and we’re ending with Taemin, which is totally fitting because he really is a phenomenal soloist with many great songs.
What are your favorite b-sides? Here is the playlist for all of mine!
