Most know of Dead by Daylight as an asymmetrical survival game with a huge class of characters, both survivors and killers. But now you don’t have to just avoid killers, you can date them too in their dating sim Hooked On You.

The basic premise of Hooked on You: A Dead by Daylight Dating Sim is you wash up on an island that just so happens to have some of the killers from Dead By Daylight vacationing there. And they take an interest in you, for better or worse, so you have to make decisions to stay alive and maybe find true love with your favorite monster.
Most fans of DbD are going to complain and scoff at this, asking “why would you ever play this?” and my response is “why the hell not?”
This will probably be one of the most ridiculous games I have ever played and I’m totally okay with that. It is definitely better if you have even a basic knowledge of the original game, that way you will understand everything a lot better and find the humor in it. No matter what though, this game is clearly not made to be taken seriously and I am on board with it. They embrace the ridiculousness, giving each character a strong personality that fits so well with their original lore, and your companion narrator has witty, self-aware humor you could miss if you just skim through. The art fits the game so well, being overexaggerated versions of these characters that are classic of dating sims, with a disturbing edge.

I’m pretty sure most fans of DbD are going to complain and scoff at this, asking “why would you ever play this?” and my response is “why the hell not?” It’s outlandish and silly and maybe a bit cringey, but it’s obviously one big joke that is done very well. Just have some fun and play it if you want. With a game as intense and competitive as DbD, it’s nice to just have a silly, fun time.

I do have a complaint though, and that is my computer just could not handle the graphics and there was no way to change them. This computer has played Dead By Daylight before but somehow couldn’t manage Hooked On You. It actually made me stop playing the game only 50 minutes in because the framerate was so atrocious I was never going to be able to do the minigames. And by stop, I mean the lag was so bad when trying to save that I had to use the task manager to close it. I was going to do a full review of the game but I couldn’t even finish playing the game to do so. Granted, my current computer is in no way optimized for gaming right now, so take that in mind.

Overall, Hooked on You: A Dead by Daylight Dating Sim is a nutty idea that was developed surprisingly well and is a good time if you have a sense of humor and enjoy the references to the original. It is currently available on Steam if you want to give it a go.
I love that this exists. I wouldn’t have thought to combine the two together.
