Have you ever wanted to create your own movies? Now you can by playing Moviehouse – The Film Studio Tycoon.
A copy of this game was provided for the purposes of this review.

In Moviehouse, you start off with very basic options and will have to unlock more options as you play more. You hire screenwriters and directors to make your films, providing input and instructions based on your provided options. You’ll choose the film genre, pick different tropes, hire the actors, and advise the director. As with many tycoon games, you have a set starting budget to start making short films and will need to recoup expenses through distributing your films. You’ll enter film festivals to grow an audience to make more money, and then you’ll make more movies.
The above description is really the extent of the game. There isn’t as much creativity in this game compared to other tycoon games I really enjoy, meaning that I don’t have as much creative control as I’d like with the outcome of what I create. It is a very step-by-step process where, unless you have a lot of unlocked options, the choices are small. I feel like you may have to grind a bit in the start to really get the most enjoyable gameplay.

I did have some trouble running the game after a while, even when updating the settings to have better performance. It seemed like I reached a point in the game where too much was trying to occur at once and my computer wasn’t happy about it. But it happened so early in the gameplay that I was surprised it was struggling.

Overall Moviehouse – The Film Studio Tycoon is fine. I have a feeling it is more fun once you have unlocked a lot more, but that grind aspect isn’t very enjoyable for me. It won’t be my go-to tycoon game since there isn’t as much customizing and creativity as I enjoy. If you enjoy strictly the operating aspect of tycoon games, this will be more fun for you.
