Sugoi Mart has released this year’s lucky bags themed all around cherry blossom season, and I had the pleasure to get one and share my thoughts on what I received.

The Sakura Lucky Bags are always very cute, especially this year with the absolutely adorable plushie there is. Mine is a seal, but there are other animal options as well. There is an additional, smaller plush keychain. When it comes to the food and drink items, it was a good balance between tea and snacks, with the slight oddball but amusing surprise item of pasta. The remaining items include chopsticks, bath salts, and a My Melody washcloth. Overall there are ten items in the bag and I am generally happy with everything.

This is my second Sakura bag so I’ll be comparing the two as well. The biggest difference between the two versions is the style of the bag itself. While the 2021 bag came in a fabric tote bag, this year’s is in a more classic gift bag. The latter is definitely sturdier and I really like the graphic that is on it. The tote bag has the benefit of being easily reusable though, but seeing as mine is currently holding random stuff in my office, that isn’t necessarily a big plus for me.
As for the items, the variety is mostly equal. Half the items in each bag are food and drink, while the rest are a mix of plushies, stationary, bath products, etc. I will say it feels like the 2021 bag had more diversity, but mathematically that isn’t necessarily true.
Overall, if you enjoy Japanese culture and have an affinity for cherry blossoms, give the Sugoi Mart Sakura Lucky Bags a try! I’ve enjoyed every Lucky Bag I have gotten, and the Sakura ones are my favorite.
